John Lay worked as a photographer in High Street, Eaglehawk, Victoria (1890s) and then operated as John Lay & Son at the same address between 1904-1906. According to local historian Ray Wallace John Lay was a photographer and chemist and the photographic studio operated out of a chemist's shop. The building was still standing in Eaglehawk in 2005.
