Vance 'Tom' (Tung Gow) Chinn (6th son of Maa Mon Chinn and Loola Kow You) took part in musical comedy in Melbourne. When the family came to Melbourne in the 1910s, Vance and his four elder brothers set up the Chinn Brothers wholesale fruit and vegetable business. The Chinn's house, at 104-106 Little Bourke Street, was directly behind Her Majesty's Theatre. In the 1950s Vance married a woman called Rose.
