- Title
- Quong Tart seated in mandarin robes
- Description
Qunog Tart wears some feathers in his hat, probably peacock (hua yu) or perhaps crow (lan yu) feathers. He also wears a set of mandarin chains and possibly a mandarin button on his hat.
- Date
- c. 11 July 1894 - c. 29 January 1897
- Place
- Australia - New South Wales - Sydney
- Interpretive description
In 1894 Quong Tart was granted the rank of Blue Button, fourth rank - with the extra degree of the Peacock's Feather, which was worn on the hat [Travers p.141]. It is possible that the photograph published in Tart 1911 was based on an original photograph held by the Tart family and the original or a copy was then given to the Chinese Australian Herald for publication in 1897.
