Fong, Kaylene

Born
Perth, Western Australia, Australia
Summary

The Fong family moved from Northbridge to Inglewood, to a house on the corner of Beaufort and Salisbury Streets.

The family moved when Kaylene reached school age. The children attended North Inglewood Primary School until 1967, when the family moved to East Victoria Park

Kaylene was the only Chinese student at the school at the time, and experienced racial taunts for the first time, from the older students. There were very few Chinese living in the metropolitan area at the time due to the White Australia Policy
