- Summary
Annie Goonwing is believed to have been abandoned by her natural mother and adopted by Mrs Goonwing and her Chinese-born husband Arthur Goonwing (or Ah Wing). Her birth certificate can not be located, nor is she listed as a sibling on the birth certificates of the Goonwings other children. She is however mentioned on her mother's death certificate in 1903. She had an adopted brother, Albert Goonwing and sister Henrietta Goonwing.
Annie worked as a housekeeper for many families in Bendigo including John Moyle, a Scottish man. After his first wife died the two married in 1910. She came to the marriage with three illegitimate children born between 1902 and 1906. Only one them, Edith Hill (born 1906) survived.
