David Kui Kong Young was born in Hawaii to Chinese parents. His father emigrated from China and his mother was born in Hawaii of immigrant parents. He was a boxer. He stayed in Australia from around March 1939 through to January 1940. During that time he fought 16 times in Sydney, Newcastle, Melbourne and Brisbane with a record of 13-2-1. He won bouts over several noted Australian boxers such as Joey Hall and Mickey Miller.
