- Caption: 'CHINESE DINNER: The Chung Gons at dinner, and enjoying this Chinese meal with them is Mr. James Chung Gon, father of Mr. Edward Chung Gon, and well-known Launceston merchant. The dinner was a quiet family celebration of Mr. James Chung Gon's 87th birthday. Look at Mei-Ling! She is learning to use her chopsticks. Table is set with beautiful China crockery - rice bowls, teacups, savoury dishes, covered bowls, chop-sticks. Chinese food includes bird's-nest soup and steamed duck (in covered bowls), sweets, dried lychees, cumquats, fruit, rice. After dinner there will be the national game of mah jongg [sic]. Our story closes with the privacy of a Chinese family dinner.'
