The version of this image in Margaret Tart's book with a personal dedication is a different copy to that held in the National Library of Australia which is unsigned. This photograph probably dates from near Quong Tart's death due to his visably greying hair which according to Traver's occurred after the attack on him in 1902 (Travers, R., Australian Mandarin: The Life and Times of Quong Tart, 1981).
