'There is a most interesting series of illustrations under the general head of early morning at the East-End Market. Some exceedingly clever snapshots have been obtained, and life at the market, both from the point of view of the buyer and the sellinger, is depicted in a most interesting way. There are pictures of the market carts on East-terrace, customers on the lookout for bargains, Mr Hammer collecting fees, an ancient Chinese gardener, buyers inspecting goods, and hawkers getting ready for their rounds.'
