- Description
Frank (Tung Foo) Chinn (April 1897-ca1986), from the tin mining Maa/Chinn family of North East Tasmania, moved to Melbourne in the late 1910s, where he and his family became key members of the Chinese community. Frank donated over 130 photographs to the Museum of Chinese Australian History in 1986. These document his own family, his extensive friendship and community networks around Australia, and Chinese community events. A range of other Chinese-Australian families are included in his collection. Oral histories of Frank and his niece Thelma Cremin are held at the Museum of Chinese Australian history.
