Summary

George Thomas Tueon (aka Too Own) was born to Isabella Too Own (nee Bounday) and Yea (aka Charlie) Too Own. His birth was registered in Portland on 20 March 1893.

George was the younger of two sons, the other being Ernest Yea Too Own (8 January 1890-30 December 1963). Ernest ('Ern') never married.

Yea Too Own migrated to Australia from Shanghai to take up work in the Ballarat and Bendigo goldfields. He later went to northeast Tasmania to work in the tin mines. While there he met and married Isabella Bounday.

Both sons were born at Blue Tier and attended the Pioneer school. George left when he was in grade four to help support his family. Later the family moved to Derby (Tasmania) where George worked at the Ruby Flat tin mines in Branxholm. His father then had a market garden in Derby. Later on George became a blacksmith, cartage carrier and wood contractor. He also acted as an interpreter for court cases and in many other circumstances both publicly and privately where he translated from Mandarin to English.

George married Elsie Targett, nee Underhill (25 November 1892-10 March 1982). They had three children: Elsie Kathleen (8 August 1920-22 May 2007); George Ronald Tueon (23 April 1923-14 November 2006); and Betty Hazel May (1 October 1927-). Elsie Kathleen had two daughters: Rosilynn and Cheryl. George Ronald had one son, Christopher and Betty Hazel May has a son, James, and two daughters, Maree and Bette.
